Scalability

Sovay was designed for scalability from ground up.  Each and every component is reached through URLs so you can put your favorite load balancers in front of each and every component.  You can also control each URL so you can have multiple load balancers for each subtask.  Every component has been designed to perform a small task that in most cases can be executed in parallel with other tasks so not only can you spread the work across numerous machines, but you can design your configuration for the best possible response times.  Data can be partitioned across multiple databases so you can match load of your favorite database price point.

All of Sovay’s configuration is controlled through database table entries that can be updated in real time.  This means that processing can be easily migrated to different server farms for maintenance or to quickly recover from network and data center outages.

When the designers took on the task of providing multifactor authentication using multiple technologies from multiple vendors it was natural to execute subtasks in parallel.  Our messaging system is built on open source standard libraries that enable you to configure the parallel execution of tasks.

Consider the simplest Sovay configuration where a single multimodal biometric vendor for voice and face verification and a single voice recognition engine are employed for user identification.  Since the biometric verification and the voice recognition engines use the same voice data, both can be executed in parallel.  Likewise, execution of multiple face recognition engines can also execute in parallel.  Other tasks can be quickly configured to take advantage of Sovay’s unique and robust scalability.

You can learn more about Sovay’s request-time configuration options in the Concepts and Facilities document.
